I have big problems when boinc is running. I can't use the mouse, the response from the mouse is jerky at best when BOINC is running. WHen I suspend BOINC, the behaviour is perfectly OK. I have experimented with various settings in the settings. Right now I am down to 5 % setting for "Allow calculation when usage is below" (or whatever the english version says, running Swedish localisation of Boinc) 25 % of CPU's and 25% CPU-time, and it still is barely usable. My specs is: INTEL I7-4930K@4.1 GHz, 16GB at 1600MHz, RADEON HD5870 on an ASUYS PX79WS MoBO. W7-64 |

Which projects are you attached to, and which have work? Is any of them doing work on the HD5870? Because when work is done on the GPU, the exact problems you have can happen, stuttering, slowness of screen refresh, even complete halts. This is why by default BOINC will only use the GPU when the computer is otherwise idle, aka no one at the keyboard/mouse == use GPU for calculations. If you changed that so that the GPU is used when the computer is in use, these artifacts can happen. |

Please post the Boinc startup from the Event Log, the first 30 lines or so will do. Claggy |

2015-07-16 16:05:27 | Einstein@Home | URL http://einstein.phys.uwm.edu/; Computer ID 2030526; resource share 100 As I expected, you're running work on your ATI GPU, from both Einstein and Seti. This will cause the problems you see with regards to slowness, refresh rates, etc. Simply solved by setting the preference for the GPU to only run when the system is idle (you away from keyboard but computer still on). Edit: To do so, open BOINC Manager, (Tools, Advanced view), Tools, Computing preferences..., uncheck Use GPU while computer is in use, click OK. |

That one is unchecked. Boinc is only supposed to run: When computer is not on batteries (well, since it's an desktop, so...) When the computer is NOT used. The gpu is not allowed to be used while the computer is in use It has to be idle for 3 minutes Less than 5% CPU No time restrictions nor any day of week restrictions. Switch task every 60 minutes 25% of the processors is allowed and 25% CPU-time is allowed. Now what have I missed. It seems that boinc doesn't bother about some of the settings. Strange thing, it only affects one of the connected mices. The only one affected is th MS one, the logitech one is not affected The MS is wireless, and the logitech is cabled. |

I somehow suspect you're screwed up your Boinc installation somehow, probably some of the slot permissions aren't set correctly: 2015-07-16 16:05:27 | | Data directory: D:\BOINC\Data In June the Seti v7 v7.03 r1831 app was failing to build it's compilations: <core_client_version>7.4.42</core_client_version> Late June the Seti v7 v7.03 app was running correctly (Note this app had api Bug where it didn't suspend properly when it was supposed to, ie when in use). Beginning of July the Seti v7 7.00 CPU app was failing to even run: <core_client_version>7.4.42</core_client_version> Over the last couple of days you're completed a couple of Seti v7 v7.07 and AP v7 7.09 tasks O.K, But you then errored a Seti v7 7.07 task with a too large a finish file, where the app completed the Wu, then restarted it: <core_client_version>7.4.42</core_client_version> Try doing a Boinc repair installation (rerun the installer), and/or a fresh Boinc Installation, and maybe Boinc 7.6.6, also try not to use the '25% CPU-time' setting, try 100%, and let it suspend when in use, and greater than 5% CPU instead. And to reforce all that, the rosetta app can't start: <core_client_version>7.4.42</core_client_version> Claggy |
