My system is a mageia 5 linux system. I had boinc running, but then it stopped. I have asked this question on several forums. Someone else must have had the same problem. boinc is running as "user1" Should I make a user called "boinc"? The boinc was going, then I got this message ./boinc: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl.so.4: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory I then tried to install from the repos the latest version. I am using Mageia 5 . Now I get this message. boinc /usr/bin/boinc: line 5: /var/log/boinc.log: Permission denied The versions downloaded are: rpm -qa |grep boinc boinc-client-7.2.42-5.mga5 boinc-manager-7.2.42-5.mga5 |

The boinc was going, then I got this message BOINC requires libcurl. Perhaps you accidentally uninstalled it. boinc is running as "user1" Berkeley version doesn't care which user it is running as. Distro versions are usually set up to run under a separate user account and the start-up scripts may have some assumptions on the name of the account. Mageia packages use account called 'boinc'. I then tried to install from the repos the latest version. I am using Mageia 5 . Check the owner of /var/log/boinc.log , /var/log/boincerr.log , /var/lib/boinc/ and all files under it. They should be owned by user=boinc group=boinc . Now that you installed BOINC from Mageia repositories BOINC may or may not continue with projects and tasks it had before the troubles depending on the previous location of the BOINC data directory. |
