My problem installing the new version persists, and the thread with some suggestions has petered out. I want to now, completely delete BOINC and try again from scratch. What steps do I take to acheive this? Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |

... and the thread with some suggestions has petered out. That's mostly because just about no one can get here, due to router trouble at Berkeley campus. I sure can't get here most of the day. Anyway, how to completely remove everything BOINC is pointed out in this BOINC FAQ. |

Hmmm, just tried that, no good. It says it can't find BOINC.msi. I can, and it is where it should be. I think the fact that the drive in here is F: and it is looking for a network drive or resource rather than a bog standard rotating disk in the machine is indicated. I think the fact that the drive in here is F: and it is looking for a network drive or resource rather than a bog standard rotating disk in the machine is indicated. I often install BOINC Data to a ramdisk (X: drive or whatever), and to completely uninstall BOINC I have to run regedit and delete all the BOINC entries. Otherwise, if I want to re-install BOINC Data to a different drive later, the installation will usually fail, since it is looking for the wrong path. I also do service installs of BOINC, which produce a few extra entries. |

For that error we also have a BOINC FAQ. Sorry I couldn't answer earlier, up until a minute ago I was unable to reach these boards. Not sure now how long it'll take this time. |

It doesn't work. It believes F: to be a network resource which it claims is unavailable. So step 1 of the process fails. What steps do I take to do this by hand. I can see that deleting the registry entries, which is easy enough, is a possibility, is there more to it than that? Forget it folks. I put 7.6.6 back up and it is running. Wave upon wave of demented avengers march cheerfully out of obscurity into the dream. |
