I'm looking at setting up BOINC for my university for research projects. However we have decided not to use any PHP on campus, because of it's security holes and high need for maintenance. (I'm not a server guy, so if you believe this is incorrect then let me know.) So I'm wondering if BOINC can be configured to use a different web server and mailer than PHP.
Any thoughts?
Thanks for the input.

First of all, PHP isn't a web server, Apache is. PHP is used to generate web pages.

If you don't use PHP you'll lose pretty much all web pages.
Account creation is done by PHP script so you'll lose ability to create new accounts.
Some of the backend scripts are written in PHP.

Maybe you might be able to get something working but it would be seriously crippled BOINC.
