Originally installed and using the Boinc Manager v7.2.42 (x64) now using v.7 6.32 x64 and have the same problem. Previously had been running seti@HOME 12/2016 Now runing milkyway@HOME 2016/03/13 My system HP Pavilion g7 - 2269wm AMD Quad-Core A8-4500M Accelerated Processor 17.3" diagonal HD+ BrightView LED Display Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. [AMD/ATI] Trinity [Radeon HD 7640G] 500 GB HDD 6144 MB DDR3 SDRAM since 20140730-22:58 ~ Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS Trusty Tahr Kernal 3.13.0.86-generic x86_64 ext4 BOINC UserID: 43551 After using the Boinc Manager I can click on the close or minimize button and the window seems to close. The problem; On closing the last other than BOINC window on my desktop; BOINC Manager window will open by itself. This will happen multiple times, seemingly without end. In most cases I do not want to see the manager again until something happens that requires my attention. Is this SOP ? Boinc Manager window opening without being invoked. Is this an undocumented feature ? Is there a cure for this ? I have found that IF I re-boot the problem ceases until I invoke BOINC Manager again. I do not think that I should have to re-boot every time I use the BOINC Manager. Any assistance will be appreciated, even if it means that there is no cure for this problem. |

No recollection of such a case having been reported before, but do have a few questions: If that manager opens, what is the information shown right bottom? Does the notices tab show a number in brackets (unread count)? Have you set exclusions for AV scanning and allowed connecting in firewall over localhost/IP 127.0.0.1 from boinc.exe to boincmng.exe and back? Coelum Non Animum Mutant, Qui Trans Mare Currunt |

Firstly, thank you for responding. This was running in Ubuntu 14.04.3 LTS, not windows. Upgraded to Ubuntu 16.04 LTS yesterday w/ kernel 4.4.0 Still having the same prob, only now the BOINC Manager opens after any other window is closed. Don't know how to attach a screenshot of the manager, but; when the Notices button is selected it displays; "There are no notices at this time" I have not seen any way to set exclusions for anything. The manager ran pretty much 'out of the box' and is much better than the old ways from several years ago. To have no errors, Would be life without meaning, No struggle, No Joy |

I am having the same issue running 16.04 LTS. I just installed Ubuntu a few days ago and pulled the BOINC manger 7.6.31 from the application store. Any help would be appreciated. |

I wonder if this is something like the window manager "helpfully" re-opening a minimized window for you when you have no more open windows. Can you reproduce this with any other application? |

If you switch to Advanced View i can reproduce the problem on ubuntu 14.04 lightdm and 7.6.31 boincmgr. Simple View - the problem does not occur. Other applications don't behave behave this way. |

Do you all use Unity, Ubuntu's desktop environment? |

Yes I'm running the default 16.04 install. I have the same issue in simple or advanced mode. Thanks. |

Until this is fixed all I can suggest is that you exit the Manager when you are not using it. File->Exit BOINC Manager. BOINC client (the component that does all the real work) will continue to run as long as you have not selected "Stop running tasks when exiting the BOINC Manager" in the Exit Confirmation dialog. If you don't see the dialog you can enable it in Options->Other Options->Enable Manager exit dialog. |
