I am not really sure what is going on. I have ran an assortment of BOINC / SETI clients over the years and never encountered this issue. I am running Windows 10 x64 on a Dell and I downloaded and installed the BOINC client, but when I try to connect to SETI it tells me that it cannot connect to the site over the internet and asks me if I need to enter information for a proxy. I don't use a proxy. Nothing is blocked going out of our firewall. I have allowed all the exe in the boinc folder through my firewall. I have added scan exceptions for the BOINC folder to my Kaspersky Managed AV and I have also added exclusions to BOINC in the Malwarebytes client I run and yet I am stull unable to get BOINC to attach to any project due to it telling me there is not internet connections out. ANY ideas I haven't tried? |

I also checked the settingso nt he boinc manager to run as administrator for all users and I set it to Windows 8 compatibility mode and now, I get a different message, but it seems like it is the same: 10/28/2016 10:57:03 AM | | Suspending GPU computation - computer is in use 10/28/2016 10:57:13 AM | | Fetching configuration file from http://bam.boincstats.com/get_project_config.php 10/28/2016 10:57:27 AM | | Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site 10/28/2016 10:57:30 AM | | BOINC can't access Internet - check network connection or proxy configuration. 10/28/2016 10:57:45 AM | | Re-reading cc_config.xml |

And yes, the applications are allowed through the firewall both inbound and outbound for any port any profile (domain, private, public) |

Nothing is blocked going out of our firewall. And what firewall is that? Windows software firewall, hardware firewall? Is it on a home LAN, or office? Can you add the http_debug flag (BOINC Manager, View, Advanced view, Options, Event Log options..., http_debug, OK) and then have BOINC contact the project you're trying to reach or BAM, and post the output of this? Please don't mask any of the IP addresses in the output, none of those are yours. One question, seeing how you are contacting BAM (the BOINC Account Manager), was that your intention? |

Both the local Windows 10 Firewall, Malwarebytes and Kasperky (I excluded it from all those) and the Network a SOPHOS firewall for the LAN/WAN interface. I am not much up on the SOPHOS units, but I have allowed berkeley.edu. As far as I know the firewall doesn't block outgoing traffic, though it does filter by certain content categories, that is why I white listed Berkeley.edu. I am not sure where else to look on that unit it not like a ASA. I tried both directly (Seti) and BAM. 10/28/2016 1:50:43 PM | | cc_config.xml not found - using defaults 10/28/2016 1:50:43 PM | | Starting BOINC client version 7.6.22 for windows_x86_64 10/28/2016 1:50:43 PM | | log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 10/28/2016 1:50:43 PM | | Libraries: libcurl/7.45.0 OpenSSL/1.0.2d zlib/1.2.8 10/28/2016 1:50:43 PM | | Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 10/28/2016 1:50:43 PM | | Running under account xxxxxxx 10/28/2016 1:50:44 PM | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 0: Quadro K620 (driver version 361.91, CUDA version 8.0, compute capability 5.0, 2048MB, 1677MB available, 863 GFLOPS peak) 10/28/2016 1:50:44 PM | | CUDA: NVIDIA GPU 1: Quadro K620 (driver version 361.91, CUDA version 8.0, compute capability 5.0, 2048MB, 1677MB available, 863 GFLOPS peak) 10/28/2016 1:50:44 PM | | Host name: xxxINTECH 10/28/2016 1:50:44 PM | | Processor: 24 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 v3 @ 2.40GHz [Family 6 Model 63 Stepping 2] 10/28/2016 1:50:44 PM | | Processor features: fpu vme de pse tsc msr pae mce cx8 apic sep mtrr pge mca cmov pat pse36 clflush dts acpi mmx fxsr sse sse2 ss htt tm pni ssse3 fma cx16 sse4_1 sse4_2 movebe popcnt aes f16c rdrandsyscall nx lm avx avx2 vmx smx tm2 dca pbe fsgsbase bmi1 smep bmi2 10/28/2016 1:50:44 PM | | OS: Microsoft Windows 10: Professional x64 Edition, (10.00.10586.00) 10/28/2016 1:50:44 PM | | Memory: 127.93 GB physical, 146.93 GB virtual 10/28/2016 1:50:44 PM | | Disk: 1.46 TB total, 1.29 TB free 10/28/2016 1:50:44 PM | | Local time is UTC -6 hours 10/28/2016 1:50:44 PM | | VirtualBox version: 5.0.12 10/28/2016 1:50:49 PM | | No general preferences found - SOPHOS UTM Is that the free version for home users, or the SG UTM for businesses? I see on their web page that it uses a proxy option, have you set that up? What about the VPN option? |

SOPHOS UTM Business version. UTM 9 It has a proxy, not sure how it works as we don't have to enter any proxy information. It does have content filtering for categories, but I don't see where Seti falls into a category unless it is P2P in which case I will have to check and see if maybe that is why it id getting blocked, the UTM can recognize it as a P2P application and blocks it. |

You should probably ask for help on this on the Sophos SG UTM 9 community pages, as they're better equipped at helping you than we are. |

I'm just wondering what CPU your computer is using. I had a similar problem with an AMD PC I'd bought from Dell. Luckily, I only had it a short time and was able to exchange it for an Intel model. I had no problems connecting with that PC. |
