I'm running BOINC on a laptop which only gets access to uploads/downloads once per week on a Tuesday. When tasks are uploaded and a project is updated, new work will come down and typically I'll get some tasks which need to be submitted before the following Tuesday. I hope I've explained the situation clearly enough....is there some way to handle this? |

Deadlines are set by each project individually. The majority of projects allow at least a week, and several much longer. Look around for a project which matches your interests, and ask what their deadlines are. |

Two that come to mind are SETI@Home and Climate Prediction. Both these projects have deadlines well over week, but as Richard says find projects that you are interested in and ask the question on their forum (and don't be too disappointed if you don't get an answer, some project forum are all-but dead) |

If you are asking at each project - it is useful to ask - "Is Tuesday used for maintenance window or other outages?" (I seem to recall reading seti@home Tuesday is their scheduled day) You will also need to set the "Store at least 7 days of work" in your computing preferences, assuming it is crunching all 7 days. |

Thanks for the responses/suggestions. I thought I was going to get an email letting me know someone responded but I didn't see any. In any case, I'll try setting BOINC to keep at least 7 days of work. I've seen how some projects have quick deadlines and others not so quick so maybe that's just what I'll have to play around with - project participation. Thanks again for the responses. |

Thanks for the responses/suggestions. I thought I was going to get an email letting me know someone responded but I didn't see any. That function was broken until shortly ago. Well, it worked if you had set the preference to 'get email immediately' but didn't work when set to 'once a day'. That should now be fixed, but still won't work for people who set that option before and had posts come in between them setting the pref and the function being fixed. |
