i been sifting through projects to find out what works best for one of my computers. quad core system. i have a core split into 2 for my gpus as it runs most efficent that way and gpus dont starve at all. leaves me with 3 cores left. 1 core i dedicate to tn grid. the other 2 in looking for projects for and tested many and so far only tn grid, sztaki and enigma respect the 1 core usage. everything else like wcg and vina applications seem to ignore that and suck as much up as possible. tthrottle shows them running at 100% and using the one core but viewing detailed cpu usage through task manager shows a different story. in task manager enigma, tn grid and sztaki desktop all used up to 25% which is 100 percent of one of my 4 cores. while wcg and vina applications from even drug discovery exceed that excessively when i have the 1 core dedicated tn grid not running anything as there is no wus arm. surely there has to be a way to force the applications to respect using at most one of the cores. the excessive overage does affect the stress and temp on my cpu. the applications that dont exceed a core keep my temps before 70 degrees (with fan coolers added) however the ones that dont respect the single core limit rip the temp right up to 80s. is there anyway to restrict those applications to 1 cpu core max and not to exceed it when there is a free core or not? temperature throttling is not the answer as it throttles everything and will starve the gpus. surely there is a way to control the applications from over stepping they bounderies |
