The question now is: will May survive to lead the Tories for the next 5 years? Edit: both advisers have resigned. Theresa May is weakened, and the Tory back-benches have tasted blood. They were saying on the BBC / ITV news yesterday the chances are she ain't going to last past the summer , all she's done is put the country in a much worse position than we were in before she called the election . Sooner she's gone the better but who would replace her , Boris ?? |

but who would replace her , Boris ?? Will everyone please stop saying that ... It's making me have an Yes I know a lot of people would say you'd have to be madder to vote for Jeremy, than for Boris... ;) but that isn't going to be much use at the time if it comes to it, is it? ;) On another subject, I caught a bit of a news segment about Trump being willing to testify under oath about that FBI stuff *long slow blink* and was wondering which oath that would be... ;) |

All I can say is: Kallstadt surely did not want to be put in the spotlight that way. Just to underline what I mentioned before. Could have been by PM. http://www.politico.eu/article/donald-trump-ancestry-forefathers-kallstadt/ |

Things are whizzing and zooming about. There's a lot of laughing matter entering my life. Thanks for that. Has anyone here noticed something? Yes, I haven't had to be a moderator in this thread since Wednesday. Would it be at all possible that coming Wednesday this can continue? That when Mr. S comes back that you all please please ignore all his jibes, even when he himself can't find it in him to ignore you(rs)? You'd make my week complete. :) (7 edits for jibes... injoke) |

Fishing for your opinion, Mark. I wouldn't mind everyone else's views on this. And do so in the open, so that everyone can read it all. How am I as bad as Chris? It's true I haven't had to moderate this thread since he was on a forced vacation, isn't it? That's neither flaming nor fishing, just the truth. It shows everyone can behave themselves now, so what changes when Chris is on the forums? Why can't people behave then? It's almost a scientific challenge. Luckily you'll be rid of me for two weeks as well, as my vacation's coming to town. From Friday the 16th till Sunday the 2nd I will be unavailable. Not sure yet what I should to do with this thread. Lock it? Leave it standing and see after the two weeks who came crawling out of the octagon, bleeding but winning? It'll be two weeks of unmoderated posting if I leave it open, as none of the other moderators have to moderate here. well, unless you all can't behave yourselves and are using the wall stones to ram your opinion into one another. |

Just your post read to me like you couldn't resist a little dig in someone's direction , that's all ;-) . My opinion is everyone takes these boards far to seriously . It's up to you what you do with this thread when you're on holiday ( and hope you have a good time wherever you're going ) , personaly i ain't that botherd either way and that's the truth :-) , I've got a life and it's far more interesting than the crap that goes on here |

Prime Minister Theresa May is "a dead woman walking" who will inevitably face a leadership challenge, former Tory Chancellor George Osborne has said. Like that little turd head ain't got a axe to grind about Theresa May has he at all , he's a total smug poopyhead just look at the picture there ;-) . But this story is a a classic and think the photo is worth saving , " Baby Ben " wern't my M.P ( different constituancy ) but Ipswich is less than 10 miles away and he's such a stuck up " person " time to STOP following in daddy's footsteps and get a proper job coz you ain't done a days hard work in your whole life !!!! Just 48 hours ago he was one of the most powerful men in the British government. Now Ben Gummer’s parliamentary career has come to an abrupt end – whether temporarily or permanently. Why did he lose?hahahahahahahahahahahahaahaahahahahhahahahaha :-) :-) http://www.eadt.co.uk/news/election-2017-why-did-ben-gummer-lose-the-ipswich-seat-1-5055555 worth clicking the link just for the photo ;-);-) , but the comments do sum up the local feeling about this individual |

I wouldn't mind everyone else's views on this. And do so in the open, so that everyone can read it all.Well, I've let that marinade for a morning, and I think it's well enough stewed to post what were my first thoughts on reading it. We live in interesting political times, and it would be a great shame to have to close down all discussion of them. And discussion, to be interesting, has to be between people of differing prior experience, differing prior assumptions, differing prior views. We might even change each others' minds! But it also has to be both polite and thoughtful. The ad hominem attacks have got to stop. [I was going to add that we ought to extend that rule to comments on the politicians too, but after the belly laugh Mark's comments on Ben Gummer have just given me, I haven't the heart. Whatever happened to his, I presume, sister Cordelia, who was force-fed a hamburger on camera at the height of the BSE crisis?] So, I propose that Jord leaves the thread open for debate, and goes away on holiday without a care in the world. BUT: leaves instructions to the other mods that at the first sign of name-calling or other trouble, they lock it - no warning, no PM to anybody, no post in thread, just lock it and walk away. No appeal either. And with that, back to politics. What says anyone to the idea that we adopt the French voting system? They seem to have dug themselves out of a hole with the minimum of fuss. |

Pack your tomatoes and eggs back in the cellar Donald Trump has told Theresa May in a phone call he does not want to go ahead with a state visit to Britain until the British public supports him coming. Something tells me he was very unpopular over here before the election and doubt that feeling has changed very much , and imagine the Queen is very relived at that piece of news [I was going to add that we ought to extend that rule to comments on the politicians too, but after the belly laugh Mark's comments on Ben Gummer have just given me, I haven't the heart. Whatever happened to his, I presume, sister Cordelia, who was force-fed a hamburger on camera at the height of the BSE crisis?] Wern't just about Ben gummer , George ( smarmy poopy head ) Osborne was included to . Oh yea the " hamburger incident " up at the Suffolk Showground in Ipswich that was funny :-) , but Ben's still hurting bout NOT geting his dads " old " constituancy ( Suffolk Coastal where i live ) and specialy coz Thresea coffe " walked " it here one of the safest seats going . |

Well well, I was wondering what might happen to the ex MP for my "home constituency" Anyone worried about how ousted former Croydon Central MP was going to make ends meet after losing his seat in the general election need not have worried. Wonder how long that will last :-) |
