Thread 'Not connecting to project'

At one point, all my tasks where completed and I got a status of "Communication deferred". As normal, it started with a normal wait time, then it increased to 24:00:00. Since then (it's been at least 2 weeks), nothing is happening. At the end of the 24:00:00 delay, it resets to 24:00:00 again. I deleted the tasks, to no avail. I uninstalled the manager et reinstalled it, again to no good. All my other computers running the project are good and downloading and uploading normally. Any ideas as to what is happening? More than once I downloaded BOINC and added project SETI@Home and though it shows loads of 'running' tasks there is no work done or credits earned. I am on a laptop and not that IT literate. My husband runs the same project with no problems on his desktop. He cannot fathom it either. I also cannot see anywhere how to get a screensaver which pops up like his does. Obviously am doing something wrong but cannot for the life of me think whatit is. Against tasks some of which show as running, it usually says communication deferred. Or scheduler request pending. Have you checked that system's status at Seti, that it was returning correct work, not all errors? Can you post the first 40 lines of the BOINC start up messages? (CTRL+SHIFT+E) ID: 80463 ·

The client has been running ok for months. Admittedly, I did change a few things in my home network, but internet access and everything else is fine. Here are the startup messages (note empty server reply). The project seems to run fine for others, however (server status ok, WUs are being processed). I've also tried adding another project (SETI), again no communication. I did a complete reinstall of BOINC (32 and 64 bit versions) and toggled firewall and antivirus software. It seems that the latest release of Bitdefender AntiVirus Free Edition (1.0.9.21) blocks BOINC communication at least to yoyo@home (even though it's not supposed to interfere with communication and does not report anything). Disabling Bitdefender solved the problem, BOINC is running fine now. I'm using Windows Defender for now. ID: 81033 ·
