Since v.7.2.42 I am not able to update to newer version. That is a long time now. I am still using this old version: ![]() I get the message there is a newer version available, I download it, start the installation, but the installation always gets stranded here: ![]() The instruction on 0x5bc46935 refers to memory at 0x013fde20. The read or write operation on the memory failed. This computer still runs on Windows-XP SP3 32bit. What to do? |

Doing a search on the Dutch error, I found a thread filled with Belgians with the same problem, and here it was - at the time - the Kaspersky anti-virus/firewall software that caused the error. Anti-virus software does make sense because it will scan every executable at the time it's started. So the question here is, do you have anti-virus installed and from whom, which version? What happens when you temporarily disable the AV before trying to install a newer BOINC? |

Nope. Deactivating the antivirus did not help. Still the same problem occurs. ![]() |

Will I have to remove Boinc completely from my computer? Than I'll probably will have to start looking for my account information for the reinstall? What if I lost this information after my previous computer crash? Real picture of my screen some time ago. A bit later, it did not startup again at all. ![]() |

If 7.2.42 is working correctly you don't have to update. The blue screen points to Avira. Note that Avira has not supported XP since April 2016. |
