Hi, I can't get the following boinccmd options to work: --acct_mgr info, --acct_mgr attach, --acct_mgr synch, --acct_mgr detach. These are all the "newer" options. I also noticed that they are not listed in the command line help. Are they supported? The --join_acct_mgr and --quit_acct_mgr options DO work. The problem host is running BOINC 7.6.33 on a Debian 9.3 (x86) where I have to use command line (X-windows not working). I have three other Debian hosts (x64) all on the same BOINC release; they work fine through the GUI manager. I also just tried testing boinccmd on clean x64 virtual machine just for this purpose and the account manager commands don't work there either. Any suggestions? |

They are not supported in any of the presently available BOINC versions, but will possibly come in BOINC 7.10 Any options added need a new client, they'll never be back-ported to previous versions or added in other ways to older clients. Edit: It specially says they're new in 7.10 on https://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Boinccmd_tool#Account_manager_operations |

Ahhh... 7.10 (ten). misread as 7.1 Oops. What I'm really trying to accomplish is to sync the account manager. Is there another way to do the acct_mgr synch operation? I have the account manager added; I've stopped and restarted boinc-client a few times. |

Other than through BOINC Manager, I don't think there is an option in the older clients' command line versions. |

OK, and thanks for answering my original dumb question. I'll just run projects directly without an account manager until I can get the GUI working. |

I struggled with this one for a bit too: my solution was to use the rpc connect from the client on another computer. See http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Controlling_BOINC_remotely |

The manager usually requires the password option be passed to it. The BOINC client runs under user boinc, not the logged in user. In Debian 9.4 I setup a desktop shortcut and then changed the properties to include —password xxx on the end, where xxx is the content of your gui_rpc_auth.cfg file. Mine all have something in there, not sure what it does if it’s blank. Yes that’s a double hyphen in front of the word password. MarkJ |
