Hello, I've searched for quite a while for a solution to the following. I found similar issues but none were quite the same. This is my first time using BOINC. Since installing BOINC the manager window has perpetually said "Retrieving current status." and the tooltip for the tray icon has been "Reconnecting to client." My attempts to solve the issue informed me that this means the two processes can't communcate with each other. What I've tried: Uninstalling/reinstalling from both the VB/BOINC installer and the standalone BOINC installer. Disabling windows firewall entirely. Adding rules to the firewall to allow all connections for each .exe file in "C:\Program Files\BOINC" and for "C:\Windows\System32\conhost.exe" Running "netstat -a -b -n" in Cmder and searching for "31416". There were no matches. Checking Task Manager. In the Processes tab, I found "BOINC Manager for Windows (3)" with the children "BIONIC client", "BOINIC Manager for Windows", and "Console Window Host" ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ BOINC v7.8.23 (x64) The event log is unavailable through the tools menu and through crt+shift+e. So eventually I just restarted my computer and now it's working. |
