Hello, Trying to install "boinc_7.14.2_windows_x86_64" on Windows 10 Enterprise. It get as far as unpacking the msi, then just disappears. No errors, no nothing. I've found the msi and tried installing that but all I get is "windows cannot access the specified device path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item". Ive rebooted, no go still. Can't uninstall or repair as it's not installed. Antivirus is disabled. |

Is your 'Enterprise' copy of Windows actually running as part of an Enterprise where Group Policy restrictions might have been deployed via a Domain Controller? If so, please explain as much of the policy as you know and are allowed to tell us. |

Hello, No it is not part of an enterprise. So why have I got it, you say. That's a long boring story involving fat fingers on a small phone! I've been able to install most of my stuff so far. It's this boinc that's refusing to play good. I've only been using it since about 2007 ish on a couple of XP machines. |

Run the "fix problems that block programs from being installed or removed" program from Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/17588/windows-fix-problems-that-block-programs-being-installed-or-removed, then download the BOINC installer again from the website to make sure you have a non-corrupt copy, and try the installation again. |

Hello, It doesn't seem to be a problem with boinc as I'm now getting access denied on a lot of instances. I've tried the subinacl but I can't get that to run either, no matter where I save it to. |

Ok I've got that little problem sorted, what a welcome to a new version on windows. Now I have it installed, but it will not start. The error is "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b". Tried starting it manually some response. Now what? |

little problem sortedWould you mind expanding on that a bit for the benefit of others following this thread in the future? About starting it: Which directory / folder were you in? |

Now I have it installed, but it will not start. The error is "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc000007b".Ouch. 0xC000007B(from MSDN NTSTATUS Values) I think you need to review whatever steps you took to force it into installing. |

Yep, sorted. School boy error! But I'm back to the access denied problem. It seems to be a very common problem, with hundreds of ways to FIX it. I'll work through them to see which one works. May take sometime. |
