Hi. I use BOINC. Unfortunately as I launch the latest BOINC installer to date under either an elevated account or administrator account BOINIC will not install in my server version of windows. This is due to the MSI not being made compatable. I know about microsoft ORCA but I don't think I should walk away without saying this version of windows is compatable and needs to be programmed in BOINC MSI. Thankyou for reading and good day. |

Thanks for the report. I'll happily pass this upstream to the Windows Installer team, but I'd like a little more information first, please. Looking at https://www.boincstats.com/stats/5/host/breakdown/os/ (Host Operating System breakdown for Einstein@Home), I see multiple versions of Windows Server 2016 attached and (presumably) running - Standard, Datacenter, and Evaluation, in various combinations. But unfortunately, it's hard to assess externally whether they are running "the latest" (by which I presume you mean v7.14.2) version of BOINC, and we don't know whether they used a standard or custom installer. So, could you please post some technical details of how you discovered the MSI incompatibility: in particular, please could you post the text of any error messages and their associated error numbers, if any. Details of your particular server version would also be helpful. |
