Is there a way to get Boinc to do the closest deadline first and move down the list that way instead or randomly picking next project thats over a month away rather than one that 2 days away Thanks in advance |

It's not random. BOINC operates a strict 'First in, First out' policy - although that's hard to see once you've sorted the tasks into some different order. If any task is actually in danger of missing its deadline (and BOINC keeps a pretty strict watch on that), it will be promoted above its normal place in the queue. |

Is there a way to get Boinc to do the closest deadline first ...There is always the technique of 'micromanaging' - which is unnecessary, as Richard points out, since BOINC will take care of it for you. If you have a particular task that you want to run next, you can always use options in BOINC Manager to 'suspend' any tasks ahead of it in the FIFO queue. As soon as the 'promoted' task is underway, you could 'resume' whatever others you had previously suspended. It's a really good way to overlook things and get yourself (and BOINC) into a pickle so you can't just walk away and forget about it :-). Cheers, Gary. |
