I'm using the latest standard BOINC client for Mac. On my Macbook it keeps running, even when the computer is on battery, even though my preferences say it's not supposed to. It can really wear down the battery fast. The only way I can stop it is to select Snooze from the BOINC menu icon, but that only stops it temporarily. It also seems to keep running even when I am using my computer. Is this because my macbook is dual-core? Anyway, it would be nice if the client behaved according to the preferences. Any ideas? |

Latest meaning the developmental version (5.7.5) or stable version (5.4.11?)? There is a problem with snooze in the Win development version right now so it might be in the Mac version as well. As far as your preferences, make sure something didn't get changed on the project website and make sure that your manager is set to "run based on preferences" (probably the activity menu or the Mac equivalent in BOINC Manager). If your prefs are set up right, then post back and I'll point the Mac developer over here. Kathryn :o) |

Latest meaning the developmental version (5.7.5) or stable version (5.4.11?)? Yes, my preferences are set up right. I'm running 5.4.9, the stable version that is the main link on the BOINC download page for OS X. |

I have the same problem with a iMac (Tiger 10.4.10) and Version 5.10.20 of BOINC. It's supposed to stop running when someone uses the Mac but it's just running on and on. It's only currently running WorldCommunityGrid (since I haven't tried SETI after it always lost all its work). I checked my preferences and made sure it's set on "run based on preferences". |
