I'm having an odd problem with my BOINC manager. It says I'm "Using web-based preference" from a specific project, and that seems to work as I have made many changes over the years and my client seems to update pretty quickly. When I update BOINC, the log shows the new preferences. But, I've tried to use the schedule to limit the time of day that BOINC computes and these settings, specifically, seem to have no effect. When I make changes and update, the log shows the preferences are checked, but it reports no changes. Any idea what could be happening? |

Website project preferences are global and propagate to all projects, eventually. The client has to make contact with the project that you made the changes to. It can take a while depending on the project how fast the changes propagate. Sometime, hitting Update does nothing and it takes a full restart of BOINC for the changes to have effect. If you want to effect immediate changes, then use the Local Preferences setting in the Manager and choose Read configuration files from the Manager Options menu. That will go into effect immediately. |

Hi Keith. Hey, great tip to restart BOINC mgr. After 20 years, that is a dependency I hadn't noticed before. I think that was it; seems to be using my schedule, now. |

Yes, BOINC can be mercurial and doesn't follow its own rules at times. A full BOINC restart is often the best cure-all. Glad you got it working to your satisfaction. |
