I'm a long-time BOINC user with SETI; ran it for years with no issues. With SETI out of the picture, I wanted to use my processor downtime to tackle COVID-19 research. Signed up with Rosetta@home and completed a couple of jobs. And then a couple of weeks ago ... "No running tasks." I signed up for World Community Grid and RNA Word -- same thing, No running tasks. When I look under the Projects tab, each item is showing "Communication deferred" with a countdown timer. When the timer runs out, it contacts the server ... and a new countdown begins. I'm on a Mac Pro running OS 10.6.8 with 2 x 3 GHz Dual-Core Intel Xeon processors. I'm currently running BOINC version 7.2.42 -- the same one I've been running with no issues until recently. That brings me to my next issues. When I try to upgrade to 7.14.4, the installer launches but then I get an error message, the main focus being the message "Library not loaded: /usr/lib/libc++.1.dylib" I believe that, in theory, 7.14.4 should be compatible with Snow Leopard -- but maybe it really isn't? Thank you for your consideration and advice. Dave |

Looking at other issues which throw up that message on Snow Leopard the solution might be to install qt5 which you can get from git ./configure -developer-build -opensource -nomake examples -nomake tests -qt-sql-mysql I have never used a Mac myself so am unable to test this solution. |

UPDATE: I took the nuclear option and updated my OS to 10.7 (Lion). Everything's working again. |
