Carl and Milo in Oxford have announced that the BBC's followup programme to Meltdown will be broadcast on BBC1 at 8pm on Sunday 21 January 2007. It's called Climate Change: Britain under threat. Announcement and further details here: http://www.climateprediction.net/newsb.php?id=0 David Attenborough will present the programme and we're hoping that several BBC crunchers will appear! |

I wish I could get BBC1 in California. I hope this program runs soon on the U.S. Public Broadcasting System or on BBCAmerica. Anything hosted by Sir David Attenborough is bound to be excellent. Note that the January 19th news item on the BOINC website erroneously reports the the BBC Climate Change Experiment is COMPLETED. In fact the experiment continues (though closed to new users), and the BBC1 presentation is only summarizing the first results. Information on the CPDN website is clear on this point. I have six models running myself, some with deadlines out into 2008. http://climateprediction.net/newsb.php Best wishes. |

BBC Climate Change Experiment results In advance of Sunday's programme at 8pm on BBC1, the BBC have launched some beautiful web pages about the project results so far: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/6268595.stm And yes, the cpdn side of the project still needs new members! There are lots of climate models waiting to be crunched and new types of model at the planning stage. |

David Attenborough will present the programme and we're hoping that several BBC crunchers will appear! You mean that Sir David has been over your floor for tea, biscuits and a chat, Mo? |

I'm sure someone will stick it on YouTube or GoogleVideo soon enough, even if not you should be able to some BBC Videos here: Climate Change Experimental Results - The Impact On The UK JOIN Team ACC |

We've now completed (to at least 2050) over 9000 transient coupled 160-year models! A big thank you to all ClimatePrediction crunchers. Completed HadCM3L Transient Runs 9,090 BOINC - 4,088 BBC - 5,002 Just a reminder that the research team still needs more models and welcomes new members. Existing BBC members, please continue and complete your BBC models if you possibly can. When your model finishes, you are invited to migrate to the cpdn side of the project, in the process getting the full version of the boinc platform that the models run on. Explanation about how to migrate/switch here. The BBC Climate Change Experiment is no longer open to new members, so new participants join cpdn directly. Join here. |

Jorden said You mean that Sir David has been over your floor for tea, biscuits and a chat, Mo? I would be terrified to invite him home for a cup of tea. Yesterday the BBC repeated two of his climate films from last year. In one of the films, Sir David was visibly shocked when a climate researcher offered him a cup of tea without first warming the teapot. The BBC members selected for tonight's results programme are volunteers who had already completed their models. My computer's much too slow so I had no chance of being invited. Myles Allen of the Oxford ClimatePrediction research team is interviewed in today's Sunday Times |
