Which version of Linux are you running? Assuming one of the Debian releases, go into Synaptic Package Manager Search for Boinc and select Mark for install Apply Reboot Job done ID: 107847 ·

I'm assuming you must be trying to use the 10 year old BOINC 7.4.22 bash file from the BOINC site? It won't run. BOINC does not maintain that installation or any modern installation of BOINC. That is left to the distro maintainers. sudo apt install boinc-client boinc-manager usually gets it done. Or use the distro package manager as mentioned earlier. The independent repo is from Gianfranco Costamagna and contains the most recent versions of BOINC for Debian based distros. https://launchpad.net/~costamagnagianfranco/+archive/ubuntu/boinc ID: 107848 ·
