I upgraded my BOINC and I now see this error and the project does not work correctly, any ideas how to repair it, I tried to detach and reattach but it didn't fix it totally. I have 8.1

There was a little issue introduced.
You can update to the newest version.
Then do project detach -> manually delete old files -> do project attach again.
P.S. Please keep in mind that development version might be unstable and contain some issues.

No worries, as you said to be expected, I'm helping test the docker so I needed it.

I could not detach as it seemed in a bad state, so i removed

rm -r /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/lhcathomedev.cern.ch_lhcathome-dev/
rm /var/lib/boinc-client/*lhcathomedev.cern.ch*

it was gone so I could reattach at this point

Afterwards I get

boinccmd --project https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/ update
24-Mar-2025 20:46:27: GUI RPC error: No such project
and
[error] Project lhcathome-dev is in state file but no account file found

Like in #6182

I think since the url of the project does not match what the RPC expects then you can not detach or update or NNT.

I assume thats also whay the project can not be found as the

<project>
<master_url>https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/</master_url>

is not as expected

What's the invitation code for LHC@home dev? (email me)
Then I can try to repro.

Or send me:
- the name of the account file and its contents
- the master URL of the project in client_state.xml
- the contents of the sched_reply_*.xml file

I attached to LHC dev, got some jobs,
and stopped and restarted the client,
all with no complaints about URL.

So I can't repro this problem.
If you're still seeing it, tell me how to repro it.

Thank you for trying to repoduce. it seems like it could be a config issue then not something more.

What I saw was when I upgraded from 8.0.4 to 8.1.0 is when it broke, I can try again to repoduce the issue.

After is gave the errors I tried many things so I don't know how to repo this anymore.

Any ideas what configuationally could be the issue?

I can repo it:

Clean install Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS
After boot apt update && sudo apt upgrade
reboot
follow instructions: https://boinc.berkeley.edu/linux_install.php?os_num=5&build=alpha
reboot
sudo usermod -a -G boinc $USER
attach to LHC dev (https://lhcathomedev.cern.ch/lhcathome-dev/)
check its working all good just Warning: GUI RPC password is empty. & VirtualBox is not installed
systemctl stop boinc-client
nano /etc/apt/sources.list.d/boinc.list
change alpha to nightly
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
systemctl start boinc-client
open manager, tools even log.

If I install 8.1.0 in a similar manner with clean install of Ubuntu 24.04.2 LTS it also does not work.

My guess is something to do with "-" in lhcathome-dev since all my other projects don't have this.
