I'm trying to install and run BOINC on OpenSUSE 10.3 (x86) but I'm facing some problems, I'm not sure exactly what's going wrong so I copied the output from the terminal:

I tried running the client alone but it shut down immediately. I also tried both the older version and the unstable development version available on the download page but neither worked. I tried the Xlib.lock fix but that also didn't work. I would appreciate any ideas on how to fix this. I have an AMD Sempron 3000+ CPU, with 256MB of DDR RAM.

Is it from the official binaries on BOINC website, OpenSUSE packages, or compiled from source?

Try getting the 5.10.21 debug version, it will give far more useful information in the stacktrace.

I just tried the debug version and something happened differently, when I tried to start the manager I got the Xlib error I read previously about, so I tried the fix code stated in http://en.opensuse.org/Xlib.lock and then tried to run it again, the manager started but this time it gave a different output:

And I got an error message saying that BOINC Manager was unable to connect to a BOINC Client.

Somehow everything suddenly worked, I'm not sure what happened but right after I tried the debug version, I removed it and tried the 5.10.21 regular development version and it worked, of course with the Xlib.lock fix.
