I have VERY limited space on my boot drive (<1gb). I have used my 300gb 'e' hard drive for anything requiring large space use.

How can BOINC settings be changed so that the program uses the e drive for ALL projects?

I CANNOT use my c: drive if it plans to use over maybe 100MEGAbytes of space.

I'd be REALLY ticked to find I went through all I did (setting up accounts, researching all the different projects available and setting up those I wanted to participate in) if the last TWO HOURS were wasted because the program won't allow the use of a hard drive OTHER than the boot drive for it to store the data being processed!

[Hopefully I put this in the right forum... apologies if not.]

Just install BOINC in the drive that you want it to be in.

If, (as it sounds like), you put it in C:\, then Exit from BOINC, move the ENTIRE set of folders to the other drive, and then reinstall BOINC there.

Thank you! I'll give that a try (moving the files 'elsewhere' and reinstalling the software in that location). I've never run into a program that required that before, so didn't even think of such a thing. And sounds like ver 6 will add the flexibility to make such a manual move unnecessary for people in the future.

Much appreciate the assist(s)!

From version 6 there will be the ability to have the data installed in a different location like 'user data' than the client software.

Rectification: This possibility is already available in BOINC 5.10.20 and above, by using the <data_dir> flag in cc_config.xml. See this FAQ on that.
