Hello everybody, I'm new to the community (once I was with Seti@home before boinc era). I want to use my HP-UX workstation to partecipate some projects but Rosetta@home and Einstein@home servers gave me this message: ven 09 mag 2008 11:20:17 CEST|Einstein@Home|Message from server: platform 'hppa64-hp-hpux' not found Do you have any clue to get out of this problem? here are some workstation infos: # ./boinc_cmd --get_host_info timezone: 3600 domain name: <xxx> IP addr: <xxx> #CPUS: 2 CPU vendor: Hewlett-Packard CPU model: 9000/785 CPU FP OPS: 375483272.962327 CPU int OPS: 830712808.142437 CPU mem BW: 1000000000.000000 OS name: HP-UX OS version: B.11.11 mem size: 4294967296.000000 cache size: 1000000.000000 swap size: 0.000000 disk size: 4294967296.000000 disk free: 2645557248.000000 # ./boinc_client --version 5.10.20 hppa64-hp-hpux |

Thanks for your answer (sooo faaaast :D) So I'll subscribe to seti. My workstation actually is here to handle some "os specific tasks" and most of the time cpus are idle (only I/O to transfer files). I'd like to share my resources to a project I think more useful than looking for "non random / white noise signals" (it is fun, but folding is much more useful IMHO). Is there a way to discover what platform are supported by a project? Thanks in advance |

Most projects have an 'applications' page - reached from their main BOINC page, or by typing apps.php after their main url. The apps page usually lists the names of the current executable files, and the platforms they're intended for. For some reason, SETI's apps page isn't working at the moment. I very much doubt that you will get a compatible application downloaded automatically just by subscribing to SETI, but the other benefit of that project is that the 'science' application is open source, and variants have been made available by other volunteers for all sorts of platforms and operating systems. Several websites offering applications for HPUX are included in this post by Dotsch on the SETI message board. |
