Hello everyone,

I hope someone can help me. I just attached to new project and was given a different Cross Project ID than the one that is being used by all the other projects that I am running. I used the same email address for this project as I have with the others but for some reason I was assigned a different Cross Project ID. I was wondering why this happened and is there any way to get it to match my other projects so the work being done there is added to my totals.

How is a project supposed to know which CPID you already have, when you just attach to it? So it'll take a bit of time, communications to and fro for this number to change and match your normal CPID. Give it 24 hours to a week. Then it'll be normalized.

A search for your user name on BOINC Synergy shows that you have 3 separate CPIDs running 1 (SETI), 2 (LHC and Predictor) and 8 (everything else) projects. All projects need to have the same email address and the CPID won't cross-fertilise if you aren't running a mix of projects.

Thank you for your help, it didn't even take 24 hours to normalize. It is already matching the other 8 that are together. The odd thing about all of this is LHC and Predictor are on the same email address as the other 8, now 9 with COSMOLOGY@HOME, but for some reason the CPID are different for those 2 which I didn't realize until I re-attached to Climateprediction.net and it messed with my stats. All of the sudden LHC and Predictor's PCID didn't match the others. As for SETI, there was a problem with an old email address not being active when I lost the key to access my account and I had to start over with them on a different email address. Again thank you for your help.

You need to get work in from the projects with different CPIDs, then return it to get a matching number. It won't work on only attaching to the project. Since LHC is out of work and Predictor is only doing resends, this can take a while. Any project without work on a different CPID will stay on that different CPID for ages. (I have 5 different CPIDs that I can't get together)

You actually need a path from project server to client to project server that covers all projects.

If you have two pools of computers that are attached to different projects with NO overlap, the CPIDs of these pools of projects will never sync. If you have detached from a project and then change your email, that project will not sync until you attach to it again.

Tell that to BOINCStats, John. The only way to get my uFluids CPID to match that of the rest was to allow work. Just doing an Update didn't work. So I crunched one task, returned it and got the CPID to match.

But I got CPDN to synchronize recently (in 2008) on BoincStats, though the last WU done there was back in 2005.
