Hi there. A week ago I installed the CUDA version (6.4.5.)and a CUDA driver using a Nvidia 8800 GTS 320MB graphic card. It worked fine the first couple of days but now the computer is really slow when crunching SETI WU. I tested it today when crunching Einstein@home and it IS the SETI application that slows the computer down. I just suspended the Seti application and the computer runs fine now. The units crunched are Seti@home Enhanced 6.08 (cuda) and Astropulse 5.0. The problem is that the computer didn't struggle the first week but does now! Any idea why? How do I get rid of the cuda processing if that is the only solution to make my computer run fine again? I could not find any cuda settings in preferences. |

Please join the many discussions on the SETI message boards for the answer to what is essentially a SETI problem, not a BOINC problem. Message 860285 is relevant. But in brief: the current SETI application is under-developed. It struggles on certain tasks (VLAR), with the symptoms you describe. The developers are aware of the problem, but there is no timetable for a fix yet. |

I could not find any cuda settings in preferences. Near the bottom of SETI@home preferences, you can set: Use Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) if available no Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) ![]() |
