Please read http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Installing_on_Linux I am a Linux newbie running Ubuntu. I used the package manager to install Boinc, but it installed version 6.2.12, how do I install the newest version? I downloaded 6.4.5 and it is sitting on my desktop, but I don't know how to replace the 6.2.12 that is currently running and 6.2.12 is the only version listed when I search within the package manager. I am building a 64 bit Linux box and I would like to run the newest version. |

Please read http://boinc.berkeley.edu/wiki/Installing_on_Linux If you want to use the package manager, you'll have to wait for the Ubuntu folks to update the repositories. If you want the latest and greatest (really no reason to upgrade for Linux folks) then you'll have to manage it yourself. If you're not afraid of using the command line, then I high recommend these instructions. They effectively do the same thing the package manager does, but gives you the flexibility of managing the install yourself. Kathryn :o) |
