Yet our recommended version is still at 6.2.18. Anyone know what the status/timeframe for a newer version of the "recommended" client for OSX is? I can't seem to find any sort of news about a new recommended release beyond alpha bug fixes. ID: 23798 ·

That's because it won't be released until the major bugs are fixed and that takes the time it takes. The work fetch algorithms and scheduling is being rewritten more or less from scratch. Jord Volunteer tester Help desk expert Send message Joined: 29 Aug 05 Posts: 15632	Message 23801 - Posted: 20 Mar 2009, 10:02:14 UTC Added to that, there was no need for a recommended 6.4 version for the MacOSX as that was a version slated specifically for CUDA support. Since there were no drivers at the time for MacOSX that enabled CUDA, that version wasn't released. In the mean time, a lot of things have changed in the BOINC client, so 6.6 is slated for release on the Mac platform as well. There are some CUDA drivers available from Nvidia as well, but only for OSX 10.5.2 and above. The CUDA part in BOINC works, though there are no projects taking advantage of it for the Mac. CUDA explains this. If someone was to vaguely ball park a release for a new version what would you say? 1 month? 3 months? 6 months? Not looking for a hard date, just a "Gut feeling" as to when it might be ready for prime time based on progress made so far... My 8800GT is waiting to crunch! (I hope it's compatible) ID: 23811 ·
