I tried upgrading from BOINC 5.10.45 to 6.2.28. I got 6.2.28 from the WCG site. I thought that it was suppose to automatically migrate your data, but it is asking me to reattach to a project. I do not want to create a new host and loose all of my data. The version of BOINC was in a non standard directory it was in C:\boinc. Is this why the migration failed. Is there a way to upgrade without loosing data? - Mitch |

First off, it's a WCG version of BOINC which may well differ from the Berkeley BOINC. So your best course of action is to ask at their forums. But to answer your question, the original directory shouldn't matter. As long as you make sure that BOINC 6 uses separate directories for the executable and Data directory, it shouldn't fail. Are you sure the migration worked? You can try to uninstall through add/remove programs and reinstall. |

For some reason the migration did not work. By copying all *.xml and *.txt from c:\boinc to C:\application data\boinc and reinstalling I was able to get it to work. For some reason these files were not automatically copied. - Mitch |
