checked messages in the manager and it said a new version was available. downloaded 6.4.7 and proceeded to install it. install almost makes it all the way to the end then gives me the error "Failed to add user to the "boinc_admins" group (administrator). so i decided to re download the previous version i was runnin 6.2.19 and same error. please any help would be great |

Can you try a reboot of the machine? Perhaps that somehow your permissions got mixed up. Also see if you can get into the directory with Windows Explorer. Else check who have permission to read and write to that directory. Also see how to set the correct permissions using this write up by Adobe. |

restarted pc atleast 5x, im the only user on this pc so im set as the admin. did everything in the adobe write up (runnin xp pro) and im guessing first try at installing new version deleted the boinc directory since i cant find it anywhere. still getting the same error oops didnt go past fix #1, doing that now |

well did all steps but the last in the adobe write up, still no dice. so i decided to eff the new version for now, system restore got my old version of boinc back up |

Which Windows are you running? And was this with the 32bit or 64bit version of BOINC? |

win xp pro 32bit. just got a new 9800gt vid card and looking forward to usin it, 6.4.7 still wont install |

so again i tryed to update my boinc to 6.6.2 and getting same error. only this time when i did my system restore it didnt save boinc. now im stuck using 5.8.16. any help would be hella great at this point, quite miffed as to what could be causing this. |
