Hi. Hoping someone can assist in what's probably a common problem (even though I've searched all over for a solution). I'm using Vista Home edition and can connect to the net ok, I just can't add a project or connect to GridRepublic. Each time I try, I either get a message saying I've input an incorrect URL (impossible, as I've selected from the list it's shown), or I get a Network Communication failure. I've tried both with and without firewalls, using COMODO firewall, then uninstalling it, then using Windows Firewall, to no effect. I've also fiddled around with port 80 but still can't get it to connect. BOINC is something I want running 24/7 (I did on a previous pc with XP), but at the moment is frustrating me no end. Please can someone help? Thanks in advance Nick. |

You'll have to make sure that you set the following allowances in your firewall software: - Boinc.exe and Boincmgr.exe are allowed to talk to each other on TCP port 31416. - Boinc.exe is allowed to make a connection to the internet on TCP ports 80 and 443. |

Installed ZoneAlarm and it now works like a charm (for now!) Thanks a billion for your help Nick. |
