I am currently running BOINC on my Win XP PC.

I've just obtained an older PC - which has Linux on it.

after I connect the 2 PC's up in network, I'll see what version of Linux, or format it & re-start with an upgraded version..

(I need Linux for a project i'm doing)...

WHAT I INTEND :-

I'm going to network the two PC's, & have Googled & found that there are Linux versions of BOINC...

Once installed & up & running, Is there a way that my Win XP can connect to the net, & download enough units (SETI) for *BOTH* PC's, and then distribute some to my Linux PC for processing, & some kept on the WIN XP PC


I guess there are / is a process for this, but

Q1 :- I do not know the programme / process used to distribute work units between PC's and 1 PC connects to the net.

- How ?

and

Q2 :- I gather it is possible for several Windows PC's to be networked this way, - But is it OK / Similar process for WIN & Linux ?

Nope, there isn't. So, the answer to all your questions can be reduced to:
You have to connect both machines to the Internet to get tasks for both.

BOINC accepts results only from the host ID where it sent them.
