I want a one click connection to a remote computer. Other than advanced->select computer. Is there a command line for the boincmgr.exe to give it the remote ip address and password? |

No, the only other way is to start the client with the --allow_remote_gui_rpc argument (as in boinc.exe --allow_remote_gui_rpc); you then don't need the remote_hosts.cfg file, but you still need the gui_rpc_auth.cfg file with a password and go through BOINC manager->Advanced->Select computer. The downside of using --allow_remote_gui_rpc is that it isn't secure, any computer on the network can then theoretically control that remote client by use of a BOINC Manager. But why not just start a second BOINC Manager and point that one to the remote computer? Or use BOINCView, or the new (Beta) BOINC.Net if that's too much of a hassle. |

I want to have it open as short as possible, because it takes time from both computers. And when there are a lot of WU 1000+ you don't want it open all the time. |

I open a remote desktop, and then run the native BOINC Manager on the remote machine. That way you do the authentication/password stuff as you open the desktop, before you get to the Manager stage. Won't work for Vista/CUDA, according to reports - you'd need one of the many and various remote-control programs, like some flavour of VNC. Edit - that's for the (very few) remote management jobs I can't do with BoincView, which is always open. |

And when there are a lot of WU 1000+ you don't want it open all the time. Then park that BM in the system tray, in minimized form. |
