I am trying to figure out how to configure BOINC to continue running when the computer is on but I'm signed out. It seems to work on one of my computers which runs XP. However, we just got two new computers running Vista. We have multiple accounts on the computer for each person in the house. BOINC runs when someone is logged in, but doesn't seem to run when no one is logged in. That's a huge waste of potential processing time. I've looked through the preference repeatedly and can't find anything. Any help you could offer would be greatly appreciated. |

Alas, there's no preference setting to achieve that, you'll have to reinstall BOINC on those machines; but that shouldn't be a problem, as BOINC saves all data over uninstalling and installing. See How to install BOINC as a service (BOINC 6 series) on Windows? at the BOINC FAQ Service (there's also intructions for ver 5.x). I think I may have found a way around this. I left the computer alone while logged in. After a while, the system went back to the logon screen, which required a password, but I was still logged on. I noticed that BOINC continued running even while the system was locked, because I was logged on. |
