After som years absense, I've joined the Boinc community again. First installed on my Ubuntu 8.04 server @home - no problems. Then on my current wok laptop running win XP SP3. I've installed Boinc v. 6.6.36 from dowload area, and attached to Seti@home and Einstein@home. Runs without problems uding both processors (Lenovo X300, Intel Core 2 Duo L7100 @ 1.20GHz). Problem occurs when I connect to company network using Cisco VPN client. Shortly after connect, my laptop freezes completely... If I close Boinc Manager - problem continues - if I suspend calculatons, no problems.. It seems the freeze is caused by active calculations somehow. Could this be caused be the changes in networks connectivity caused by activating the VPN client ?? Any suggestions ? est regads Frank |

Pc freezes also when network activity is suspended.. "Has BOINC free-pass to transport RPC calls via localhost and port 31416?" Sorry - I'm not sure what this means... There should be no firewall blocking of traffic (according to our IT department) - and when network activity is suspended, this should not be an issue? I'll try this running from company office tomorrow - see if it makeas any difference. Running on home LAN / Wireless works fine - just not with VPN client active... est regards Frank |

.. Was in the office, and Boinc was active whole time without problems... Tried VPN again at home - and instantly freeze... Really annoying, as I'm runnning VPN most of the time - lots of idle CPU cycles wanishing without doing good :-( |
