I have noticed a problem since the 6.6.36 was downloaded and still occurs with 6.6.38 when you click on the internet links on boinc it sometimes takes a few minutes to download them and stops boinc running until it does download it. this also affects any links from emails. I decided to reinstall boinc and everything works perfectly for a little while with almost instant internet pages but eventually goes back to a few minutes until I re install boinc the trouble is by re installing it can upset and give errors on some of the running projects. it looks like boinc is causing this error |

I have forwarded this to the developers. can't say I have noticed it myself, but then I am testing 6.10's which have a rapid production life. Can you tell us: - Approximately how long it takes before it degrades? - What your browser of choice is? - Which Windows version this is with? - Might be of help, which project it happens mostly on? - What if you start the browser first, does that help? - Tried to delete your temporary internet files? |

Hi Jord it seem to stay ok for a few hours and then takes a while to load them and occasionally works correctly again later Today it was working but I needed to reinstall 3 times. since the last time it worked a few hours then went slow but is working again now without a re-install I occasionally receive a message that it cannot download because it cannot find the browser so it could just be an occasional problem as the internet is still working I use IE8 and windows XL it seems to happen with all projects including the help tab which takes you to Boinc help, Boinc Managers Help and boinc website today i clicked on the milkyway link and I knew it had stopped working properly so I did a google search found boinc and downloaded boinc it and ran and came up with the repair screen and uninstsll screen and I installed it and ran it all before the original milkyway website came up I will try next time it happens to clear tempory internet files when i get the next message about it failing to find the browser i will let you know the message. thanks again Paul |

Rather than just re-installing BOINC, there are some othe tests you could try: 1) Stop BOINC entirely, then restart without reinstalling 2) Re-boot the computer (assuming this doesn't get in the way of your other work), then retry. 3) Use Task Manager to see what else might be getting in the way - look in particular for applications which use a huge amount of memory. BTW, which projects (apart from MilkyWay) are you running? And how much memory (RAM) do you have in the computer? |

Other than Richard's advice, all I can offer you for now is to check if your browser is set as the default browser in Windows. Start -> Default Programs -> Set Program Access and Computer Defaults -> Custom Make sure you set the radio button on the correct browser. Do not let it stay at the "current program" option. Press OK to save your changes. |
