I have problems with using version 6.10.13 32-bit on WINXP. This problems is in menu with workunits. When I click on first and use arrow to slide to last in list client use 100% of one core on my CPU. This wasn´t in older version of BOINC. Firstly i was thinking it was my GPU, because i am crunching other project with it. With only open Boinc manager in Menu WorkUnits, manager use (0 - 1%), but when i moving (up, down) on workunits, manager is on (100%). My PC: Intel I-7 920 2,66GHz/6GB RAM/GeForce GTX260 I am computing at once WCG on CPU (8WU), Collatz with GPU(1WU), FreeHal(25WU) in same time. My previous version was 6.6.36 but i must uninstall it because, when network fail and boinc don´t have connection to any network, all running units fail in one time. Last was 3 days before on WCG. Previously on PrimeGrid challange :( So i hope this client don´t have same bug :) |

How many tasks do you have cached? Why do you scroll through the list? What if you use the "Show active tasks" button, then scroll through the list? |

How many tasks do you have cached? Why do you scroll through the list? This bug is same with only Active result, or all result. With active task i have 34 WU in list. I test it without Freehal, but same result 9 units and usage 100% when crolling down. Really don´t know how many result i have cached, i can only estimate. WCG (60WU), Collatz(90WU), so max with FreeHal can be 175. :) |

I have just tested with one of my systems, which is still trying to finish 94 Seti tasks before the 4th of November. Scrolling takes up a maximum of 4% in boincmgr.exe, none in boinc.exe So I cannot reproduce this. Then... I don't run any CUDA or ATI tasks on that system. You may be seeing your GPU being given work at that exact same moment. So do tell, what is taking up the CPU cycles? Boincmgr.exe, boinc.exe or something else? |

boincmgr.exe is problem, maybe it can be GPU computing. Notebook tested and no problems. But it don´t compute GPU tasks. But notebook computing 9 task at once and boinc.exe use 9MB Memory. Boinc.exe on desktop use 55MB Memory with 34 running tasks and freezing while moving between WUs. It can be problem with GPU or many tasks in queue... |

boincmgr.exe is problem, maybe it can be GPU computing. Not if it's boincmgr.exe that's taking the CPU cycles at that time. Boincmgr.exe is the GUI which just gives you an easier way to give commands to the client, whereas boinc.exe is the client, which does all the real scheduling, downloading, uploading etc. Of course, it's the science app that does all the real work. Boinc.exe on desktop use 55MB Memory with 34 running tasks and freezing while moving between WUs. Sorry? Can you explain that in more detail? How is Boinc freezing when you "move between WUs"? |

...So I cannot reproduce this... Did you use an arrow key to scroll? I could push my 5.10.45 BOINC manager to 15% CPU usage in task manager by doing so. However, I only have five tasks in the list. Gruß, Gundolf |

Ah... arrow key. Well yes, then I get a max of 34%, but it goes away immediately when I release the button on the keyboard. The developers say "If it uses 100% for a few seconds (while he is scrolling) and then settles back down, this doesn't seem to be a problem. If it stays at 100% after he stops scrolling it is a problem." |

Windows detect i-7 quad core like 8 cores with HT. So one core is there like 12-13%. 8*12 = 96% total. If it stays at 100% after he stops scrolling it is a problem." Yes it will stops after stop moving, but in last version this wasnt :) EDIT: So, sorry for false alarm. |
