Hello

I had to do a clean install of my system. So I copied my BOINC folder to a USB flash drive and now I'm trying to import it to /var/lib/boinc-client (which was created by a package install for Xubuntu from the repositories.) I have copied the contents of the BOINC folder successfully and the permissions have been allowed, but BOINC doesn't see the data that I've transfered. What should I look for next? Thanks.

^ Please disregard. Imported data to Berkeley downloaded version of BOINC instead of package from repository. Problem solved.

i'm playing around with ubuntu and can't figure out how to open the boinc client installer .sh file... how do i open and extract these files? v machine.

after talking to jack, and him telling me about file permissions, i was able to get boinc up and running.

I did this on an AMD system (I am totally new to Linux) but it seems to be an old version of BOINC, not the recommended one, (I would like to use the Beta version by the way).
Graphics works when hit the button, the web sides will not work when clicking on the buttons in the manager on the left side. Processor use can also not be set (to use 3 max.,what I want). How can I upgrade to the latest version of BOINC in Linux?

Since you neglect to say which version of BOINC it is or how you got it or even on which version of Ubuntu (or which other Linux distro), I will assume it's one you got through the package manager.

P.S: Buttons going to web sites not working is usually because you didn't tell your OS what default browser to use. BOINC will always try to use the default browser. See this FAQ which shows how to set the default browser in most Linux distros.

The pc is running Vista (for work) now but I will try it later.
I am to new for Linux to find ansers for your questions but the Ubuntu cam from its site 9.04 and I use the BOINC installer which was in it.
I Thought Firefox is the only installed, but again I am new with Linux and will not ask for more help unless I have studied on it for a few weeks.

As far as I know Linux distros can come with their own browser (Konqueror comes to mind), so you always have to install another browser if you want to use the other browser. And then, just as you would do in Windows, tell the OS that you want to use that browser as the default one.
