Anybody knows when this is going to be supported in a new boinc version? The guys from folding found a way to implement this in their client, and also Fred is doing a great job with eFMer. If he could implement his throttling, at least initially the temperature limitation, it would be great. |

Anybody knows when this is going to be supported in a new boinc version? When the software developers at Nvidia and ATI/AMD add the appropriate options to the drivers. |

Anybody knows when this is going to be supported in a new boinc version? And how come the folding team managed to implement the gpu % utilization for over a year without driver support? Although not completely accurate, it manages to maintain a 'steady line' when the gpu is running. If there is a workaround, it wouldn't be to strange to just ask :) . |

And how come the folding team managed to implement the gpu % utilization for over a year without driver support? I have just done a search, but can only find this thread which says they don't have it, plus all further references are to throttling the CPU. If they do have it, it is probably on Windows only, where it would be possible to use a Windows API to hook into. But BOINC is a one source->multiple platforms open source code. The developers shy away from using as much as possible OS specific APIs, to avoid adding options that are available on Windows but not on all the other platform OSes. Hence, waiting for such an option to appear in the manufacturer drivers, as then they're available for the three 'biggest' OSes. |
