For years, I have been running BOINC under XP without any problems for years. At the moment, I am running BOINC under Vista on 2 machines (desktops, both with 2GB RAM, 1 dual core, and 1 single core). It looks like both machines have problems in responding properly when I use them for other tasks while BOINC is running projects (cpu limit is 100%). One machine seems to freeze for a while (audio that is being played by Internet Explorer stops, and programs do not respond). On the other machine, the mouse (Logitech cordless) sometimes does not take a move or click: the click has to be repeated several times until it works. Does anyone recognize this? |

I am running malariacontrol only, on both machines. I have standard settings. So, I don't know about gobbling memory, and as far as I know, there is no heavy disk swapping. What exactly is ThreadMaster? And how could it solve my problems? Where to find it? |

I have installed ThreadMasterGUI and it works in limiting malariacontrol to 15% for each of the 2 processes. However, if I want to add malariacontrol to applications with e.g. 45% CPU load the GUI is not able to save this. It generates an exception and nothing is changed. Do you recognize this? |

Found it. I am experimenting now. Thanks for your help. |
