I have de option "leave applications in memory while suspended" unmark. Any suggestions ? If i closed the boing manager the tasks closed also, but i dont want to open and close boinc continuosly... bye... |

Are you sure that BOINC is pausing by itself when you're using the computer? Is the Activity menu option "Run based on preferences" selected? yes, when i am using the pc the tasks status is "Suspended - user active" and is selected "Run based on preferences". |

Are you running on the CPU only, or also on a GPU? Which project(s)? If GPU, what kind of (make, model, drivers)? Do you use the web-preferences or the local ones? And finally, for now, can you post the BOINC start-up messages, please? |

Are you running on the CPU only, or also on a GPU? CPU & GPU (Nvidia 8500 GT, drivers 191.07) Rosseta, Seti, World Community Grid, .... I've test several projects and the behavior is the same. I used the local preferences. these is my boinc start-up messages 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Starting BOINC client version 6.10.18 for windows_intelx86 13/12/2009 23:08:45 log flags: file_xfer, sched_ops, task 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Libraries: libcurl/7.19.4 OpenSSL/0.9.8l zlib/1.2.3 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Running under account toni 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Pentium(R) Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 13] 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Processor: 1.00 MB cache 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 pni mmx 13/12/2009 23:08:45 OS: Microsoft Windows 7: Ultimate x86 Edition, (06.01.7600.00) 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Memory: 2.00 GB physical, 4.00 GB virtual 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Disk: 149.04 GB total, 63.90 GB free 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Local time is UTC +1 hours 13/12/2009 23:08:45 NVIDIA GPU 0: GeForce 8500 GT (driver version 19107, CUDA version 2030, compute capability 1.1, 512MB, 29 GFLOPS peak) 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Not using a proxy 13/12/2009 23:08:45 rosetta@home URL http://boinc.bakerlab.org/rosetta/; Computer ID 1171454; resource share 100 13/12/2009 23:08:45 lhcathome URL http://lhcathome.cern.ch/lhcathome/; Computer ID 9821172; resource share 100 13/12/2009 23:08:45 SETI@home URL http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/; Computer ID 5153951; resource share 100 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Cosmology@Home URL http://www.cosmologyathome.org/; Computer ID 67578; resource share 100 13/12/2009 23:08:45 GPUGRID URL http://www.gpugrid.net/; Computer ID 59233; resource share 100 13/12/2009 23:08:45 PrimeGrid URL http://www.primegrid.com/; Computer ID 126737; resource share 100 13/12/2009 23:08:45 World Community Grid URL http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; Computer ID 1086681; resource share 100 13/12/2009 23:08:45 No general preferences found - using BOINC defaults 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Reading preferences override file 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Preferences limit memory usage when active to 1023.78MB 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Preferences limit memory usage when idle to 1842.80MB 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Preferences limit disk usage to 10.00GB 13/12/2009 23:08:45 Suspending computation - user is active thanks for your help.... bye |

Can you test with BOINC 6.10.24 if you still have that behaviour? And can you tell which applications keep on running? Primarily CPU, GPU or both? |

I have just unchecked "While computer is in use" in my local preferences, OK'ed out. Checking in Task Manager all science applications left the building. So here it works... on Windows XP. I have the feeling it has to do with Windows 7. The other day someone Seti reported the same thing. We managed to get it fixed for him, by disabling the GPU doing work on that project. I'll inform the developers of a possible hitch. |
