Greetings, recently I reinstalled Ubuntu, 64-bit karmic in place of 32-bit jaunty. I installed the packages boinc, boinc-app-seti, boinc-client, boinc-manager. I reattached to my old projects with my email address and password.

The problem is that after I reboot, the projects are gone. I try to reattach to them but the GUI ignores my mouse clicks. No dialogue box appears.

I run sudo apt-get build-dep boinc in a terminal which installs various packages, which do not change anything.

There is no libcudart package in Synaptic. Help.

Yes, I tried that twice already. Exactly the same thing happens. I can attach to my old projects, and they start gathering tasks and running as normal, until I need to reboot. Then the projects vanish and the GUI is unresponsive. It starts up and the menus show themselves, but no coffee-cup dialogue box appears to reattach to a project.

sudo /etc/init.d/boinc-client restart makes everything work again. The project I attached to before it broke (SETI) is back and running.

I've found I have to type sudo /etc/init.d/cups restart before switching on my printer each time now too, otherwise it tells me the printer has not been installed.

I don't know how these problems began and obviously it'll get tedious restarting init.d scripts on the command line every time I boot up.
