i recently got a new laptop (Win7/geforce g105m) snd ever since i installed boinc, it just quickly flashes on and off. so am i to assume it won't play with the video card. it's not complaining about it in messages. i'm at a loss. what could i possibly be missing?

This is a bit vague. WHAT "flashes on and off"?
The BOINC manager?
The screen saver?
The list of WUs?
Everything in all the tabs?

What version of BOINC?
Is this installed as "protected" (aka "service") mode?
What projects?
Are you running, (or attempting to run), GPU work?

"flashes on and off" = exactly that. whether i preview it or it starts i just see a black screen with the boinc logo then it goes back to my screen (in about a half a second).
yeah, boinc manager... where you configure all the settings, view messages and attach to projects.

Is "it" your GPU or BOINC?

Are you aware that the screensaver isn't needed to run the tasks?

Moreover, if you try to run GPU tasks and the screensaver, you force your graphics adapter to do things it wasn't built for.

So, the easiest way to "solve" your problem would be to deselect the BOINC screensaver and to not push the "Show graphics" button (at least when running GPU tasks).
