I've searched the forums for an answer, but haven't found one yet. It's been working fine until last week sometime about when I set up a vpn to work. I don't know if that's the problem or not. What's the rest of your system, can you give its specifications?
Which Windows?
Which project do you see this on?
Are you using the (apparent) ATI GPU on that project?
Have you tried to play around or update your videocard drivers?

Usually an Access Violation (0xc0000005) is a problem with overclocking, memory, DirectX version, or drivers. With drivers, I mean those for any hardware in the computer.

I'm using windows 7 64-bit on a core i7 920 with 6 gigs of memory (3x2) not overclocked. The ati card would be used when possible. I'm currently crunching for seti, seti beta, rosetta, einstein, cpdn, pirates, and lhc. This setup has been crunching away for over a year until sometime last week. Bonic.exe errors out upon boot with the listed error and if I try to run it manually from a command line it gives the same error. The only thing I can think of that I did last week was to setup a vpn. I don't know much about them or if that could be the cause. I did verify the vpn setup as correct.

Just guessing here, but perhaps the vpn install has replaced some drivers with some of its own.

The ati card would be used when possible. I'm currently crunching for seti, seti beta, rosetta, einstein, cpdn, pirates, and lhc.

The ATI card isn't used on any of those projects, unless you added the anonymous platform hybrid application for Astropulse on Seti (You'd have to manually install that, it won't download automatically here) and Seti Beta. Other than that, none of the other projects use the ATI GPU for doing work. LHC hasn't had work in months.

Are you running BOINC through the VPN, or is the VPN installed on the same system as BOINC is running from to check on a remote system? What kind of VPN did you install? (Brand, version number).

I am using ati drivers 9.3 because that's the latest that work with folding@home. I've tried every driver up to 10.2 and nothing seems to change except folding doesn't work. Yes, I have been using the hybrid app from lunatics and have been since it was released 07 Nov 2k9. I'm thinking the vpn did F some drivers up. Have any of you used PacketIX (http://www.packetix.net/en/vpn/) and/or (http://itshidden.com/)???

I've just spent the better part of an hour trying to find out what driver versions PacketIX VPN 2.0 uses, but I can't find it anywhere. It's not in their manual or on any of their support pages. You, as user, may want to contact them and ask.
