Within the last 2 days, my BOINC client fails to connect to anything, all it does is sit there and says "Retrieving Current Status" i uninstalled and reinstalled the client again hoping that that would help, but it didn't, also i cannot find my work projects so i went to the main BOINC webpage to attach them again but nothing happens, as i said, this only happened about 2 days ago, any ideas on what's going on Regards |

BOINC version? Operating System? Did the OS get an update in that reset the firewall? Is it just BOINC Manager (the graphical part) that gives the problems, or do the actual client (boinc.exe) and science applications still run when you check in Task Manager (or equivalent on other OSes)? All white screens in BOINC Manager are attributed to the client not running, or it not being capable of communicating with BOINC Manager. The latter is usually caused by an update to the firewall, whereby BOINC and BOINC manager are no longer allowed to communicate with each other on TCP port 31416. |

BOINC version? It's the Boinc.exe application, all it does is sit on the main screen, in advance mode where all the tabs are at the top i click to open one of them up and all it shows is a plain white page and the connection tells me 'Retrieving current status' i am using client version 6.10.18 on Vista 64 ultimate. I checked my firewall settings and found that it has been accepted by that |

It's the Boinc.exe application, all it does is sit on the main screen That's not boinc.exe; that's boincmgr.exe, i.e the BOINC manager, as Ageless said. The reason that all screens/tabs show as blank, is that the manager's job is to display some of the info about the 'client', (boinc.exe), that you can't otherwise see. And if the 2 parts can't 'talk' to each other on port 31416, then you're never going to see anything. Use Task Manager, (or whatever MS calls it these days), and see if boinc.exe really IS running in the background. |

As i said this has just happened 2 days ago. |

Not exactly sure what's going on here, but nothing even works, i have tried everything but still get the same error messages You'll have to explain better on what you mean with "I have tried everything". Remember that we're not looking over your shoulder, checking what you have done. You will have to tell us what you have done. 1. have you set boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe as exceptions in your Vista firewall? 2. have you tried giving them both the port number 31416? 3. if you're using a different firewall than the one supplied by Vidta, have you set boinc.exe and boincmgr.exe as exceptions in that firewall? 4. you can try to run boinc.exe by itself. Just double click on the executable in your BOINC installation directory. It'll start telling you some things in the command line window that it opens. Does it do anything there? 5. did you check what has had updates in lately and that it could possibly be due to this update that your BOINC is no longer functioning? 6. you can always try to update to BOINC 6.10.56 .. it may fix whatever is broken. |

Not exactly sure what's going on here, but nothing even works, i have tried everything but still get the same error messages Okay, firstly i like to apologize for not making things too clear, but i downloaded the newest version 6.10.56 and everything is in order, again, sorry for the inconvenience and the questions fired at you. I was an original member back in the early 90's but lost everything when i moved to the USA and this is the first problem i have ever encountered so i had some minor concerns, apart from that, keep up the good work.
