This isn't a problem, it's just the way the overall system works. Each project is stand alone, and 'knows' nothing about any others. When you attach for the first time to a new project, it issues your computer with a cpid number. If you already have another project, it will have given you a cpid from it's list. And when your computer contacts this previous project, it will see that you have a new cpid, and adjust it's record to suit. If you have several projects already, the cpids from them will gradually get changed as your computer contacts each of them, which may take a few days. And it will take longer for these changed cpids to appear on the various stats sites, because you need to wait until such time as they do the rounds of the projects and get the latest data to add to their database. |

If you have more than one computer, you need to have continuity of projects between them for the CPID to unify. Computer 1 Project A,B,C Computer 2 Project A,D,E Computer 3 Project D,F In the above example Computer 1,2 have Project A in common. Computer 2,3 have Project D in common. I've got several PCs that are attached to multiple projects. Before making this post, I decided to look up the version history. BOINC 6.10.57-6.10.58 lists a fix for MACs (here's a cut & paste) "Fix: Fix bug that caused a new CPID to be generated at startup (Mac)" My trouble is that one of my PCs.. the CPIDs for projects keep changing. Regularly! This machine is running BOINC 6.10.56. I'll go to click the BOINCStat's icon on a particular project website and I get the standard "Host doesn't exist in BOINC combined or doesn't have any credit" page. Don't run boinc for a day or two, go back, and it comes up OK - with only the projects I last ran. This PC config : AMD Phenom X4 II 925, Vista x86, 4gb RAM, and a dual GPU GTX 295 with driver version 257.21. (Was using nVidia 197.45 until recently). I dual-boot this machine with Ubuntu 9.10 64-bit, running BOINC 6.4.5. The Ubuntu host is not experiencing the same dilemma. Ubuntu on this machine runs Seti@home, and Primegrid. When I click to the stats page for the host, it lists both projects without trouble. One note - I'm not running GPU based work units on Ubuntu on this machine. Has any one else had this trouble with a PC? Like berend, I use the same email address across all projects. If I upgrade to BOINC 6.10.58, or revert to an earlier version (6.6.38 is still downloadable from BOINC's site) can this cure this problem? I can't imagine that I'm the only one experiencing this on a Windows based PC. Any help is appreciated. |

Obviously, the two "incarnations" of your dual-boot host have different CPIDs. The only chance to synchronise them is to keep the one out of sync active until it's synchronised too. You can try to speed that by frequently connecting the different projects and watching the CPID. Gruß, Gundolf Computer sind nicht alles im Leben. (Kleiner Scherz) ![]() |

The two sides of my dual-boot won't sync up together - different OS is considered a different host, even if the hardware is the same. Besides, I don't run the GPU on the Ubuntu side, and BOINC reports the Ubuntu installation has no coprocessors available. The problem is strictly on the Windows side. Every time I start the manager, whatever projects are working will get a new CPID. I had not run Milkyway in a while. Went to the site first, and clicked the stats link for the Windows host, and as expected, Milkyway was the only one listed. When I started the manager, and downloaded new work, a new CPID was generated. Clicking the same link on the site, only moments later, got the "Host doesn't exist in BOINC combined or doesn't have any credit" page again. All I did was start the manager, and download new work. This is not happening on the Ubuntu side. It's working beautifully. |

However, the problems you described are related to the user/account CPID. Gruß, Gundolf |

That applies only to the host CPID. However, the problems you described are related to the user/account CPID. If that was the case, why would it change every time I started the manager, on one OS, on one single machine? The Ubuntu install on this machine is working beautifully. I have another PC that dual boots Win7 and Ubuntu and that machine is working beautifully as well. That one is running an earlier version of BOINC on its' Windows side. |
