I have rather consistently been having 'computation error'. It happens on both machines, though one seems to have them more often. Though that may be due to the fact it is favoring a provider that uses 'programs' that don't take as long. Anyway, I was doing my usually clean up of hung programs with the Task Manager and I noticed that I had 2 copies of one running. I ended the 'process' of the one that was using no CPU time and the BOINC manager said that the program that remained had a 'computation error' and ended it. That's the first time I've ever noticed this happening. The ideal method for flushing the hung 'processes' is to 'Exit' BOINC Manager and have it also stop all the 'programs'. Though I've been getting away with just stopping the ones using 0 CPU resources up to now; at least most every time. There was a time something seemed to go wrong with that 'quick' method before also; though I could say what. The computer that has the most 'computation error's has a [mini] server board. It is an Intel S975XBX2. The other is a common MB, its cousin, the Intel D975XBX. They are both running XP Pro. I doubt if that is a factor, yet I'm not the expert. |

Which BOINC version are you running? I noticed that I had 2 copies of one running. 2 copies of what exactly? What names were showing? How many CPUs or cores do your CPUs have? How many is BOINC allowed to use? |
