All of a sudden, BOINC won't process any data. It always has but now it won't. I didn't change anything. It says it can't log in with my password. I have never logged in before, it just starts up when the computer starts. I have logged in to the site and this board with my password no problem. Anyone have any ideas? |

The password that BOINC Manager needs to make contact with BOINC is a by BOINC generated 32 character passcode that lives in a file in your BOINC Data directory. Normally you don't need to change it, unless you want to use it for remote monitoring sessions. It can happen that the file the code lives in gets corrupt, but that's easily fixed. First and foremost, exit BOINC. Check in Windows task manager (or similar for other OSes) that about the only thing running is boinctray.exe (which you can leave alone, this is the idle detection program). Next navigate to your BOINC Data directory, for default paths see this FAQ and find, then delete the file called gui_rpc_auth.cfg Restart BOINC (Start->(All) Programs->BOINC->BOINC Manager). That should fix it. If this still doesn't fix it, something changed in the firewall software on your computer and you will need to re-allow BOINC through your firewall on TCP ports 80, 443 and 31416 |
