I've had an intermittant problem with disconnecting. We had a power outage the other night, and when I booted up, my wireless connection would die after a minute or so. I experienced this a couple of months ago, and I traced it to BOINC. Both times I can shut down BOINC and my connection re-establishes itself. As soon as I start BOINC, it dies. Sometimes my D-Link Connection Manager comes back green but with no internet access. Last time this happenned I let the box sit for a day turned off. I came home from work, fired it up, and it worked like a charm since. This strategy hasn't worked yet this time around. I've Googled for solutions and tried uninstalling and reinstalling new BOINC. No deal. Any help is of course appreciated.

I am having a similar issue, when I fire up my main wired machine is the basement, all wireless systems in the house loose access. I read all kinds of posts about Win7 Homegroups, no difference, but as soon as I booted up with BOINC disable, wireless in the house was fine. Have re-installed and repaired BOINC and uninstalled and re-installed it a few times, currently running (6.12.34(x64)), noticed similar issues running 6.13 (testing) and 7 (testing build) but am now back to a stable build and very confused.

Did you disable your NIC card in the hosts [the one that does the ethernet wire connection)? No idea why, but if I do things fall over. Also, I've disabled the power-saving of wireless which makes connections wobbly. BOINC needs some way to communicate over localhost IP and port 31416 and when there's only Wifi, it might be trying this via the LAN IP instead of the 127.0.0.1 [just an unproven theory]. I've caught my BM to be using the WLAN IP instead of the device internal at times when BM was showing the device name right bottom instead of the "connected to localhost".

Secondary suggestion. Try running without BOINC Manager loaded, just the core client service and see what happens.

Yes, nearly 2012 and this RPC/Localhost/heartbeat stuff is still causing clients to fall over or jobs to crash, hence 1/2 and have a perfectly stable 270Mb 802.11N network.
